Bibhu Mohapatra’s Resort 2026 collection is a poignant homage to his heritage, born from a return to his ancestral village of Kalipur—a quiet coastal hamlet in Odisha rich with memory and meaning. What began as a practical journey in March 2025 to discuss estate matters soon became a deeply emotional reconnection with the land where Bibhu spent sun-soaked childhood summers on his family’s lively rice farm. The textures of the earth, the rhythm of village life, and the ancestral stories whispered through generations came rushing back, stirring a creative awakening. Much like the layered narratives in a Gabriel García Márquez novel, Kalipur unfolded its magic—revealing the enduring strength, grace, and artistry of Bibhu’s forebears. The collection draws from this intimate well of inspiration, weaving together traditional techniques, the foliage Jacquards, striking gazaar fabrics in a dance of shades in teal, aquamarine, sand and clementine in lyrical silhouettes, and a palette that echoes the vibrancy of village life. It is a celebration of simplicity and soul, where fashion becomes a living memory.
